Med Cats, Warriors, Apps., Kits, and Leaders RULES

[StarClan]

If you've read the Warriors books, you know full well that Medicine Cats, Warriors, Apprentices, Kits, Deputies, and even Leaders have special rules and regulations! This thread is going to tell you what all those rules are. Also, cats in the books have been known to break rules, so you are allowed to break rules, but know that consequences will ensue!

These are listed Alphabetically:

APPRENTICES

After 6 moons, you will become an Apprentice and your name will change from "...kit" to "...paw". You will be assigned a Warrior to Mentor you and keep you in line. You will have many duties to perform and lessons to learn, so there is no excuse to be lazy!

Apprentice duties and rules:
- Chores around the Camp = Feed elders, change their bedding, and check for ticks!
- Lessons are to be attended = Follow Mentor around and do what they tell you!
- May NOT leave Camp without a Warrior or Mentor, or unless they have permission.
- Sleep in the Apprentices Den.

DEPUTIES

The Deputy helps the Leader and Clan and gives advice when needed. In order to be a Deputy, you must have Mentored an Apprentice, and must be chosen by the Leader.

Deputy rules and duties:
- Take over when Leader is absent or ill.
- Organize patrols and hunting parties.
- Checks in on Apprentices and their training.
- Leader's permission to leave Camp is recommended, but not required.
- Sleep in Warriors Den.

If any of the following happens to a Deputy, they stop being a Deputy.
- Leader dies.
- Retires and joins the elders.
- Breaks Warrior Code.
- Dies or is killed.

KITS

Once a Kit is born their name becomes "...kit"! They must stay in the Nursery with their mother. After 6 moons, they will become an Apprentice.

Kit duties and rules:
- Must stay in the Camp.
- Are allowed to leave Nursery with parental consent.
- Must stay within sight of mother or father.
- May play with other Kits or Apprentices.
- Must sleep in the Nursery with mother.

LEADERS

The Leader is in charge of the Clan. Before they become Leader, they must travel to the Moonstone and receive their 9 lives and Leader's name "...star". They represent their Clan at Gatherings and seek advice from their Deputy or Medicine Cat. The Leader also holds ceremonies and meetings within the Clan. They can leave Camp whenever they like.

Ceremonies:

Warrior Naming Ceremony
I, ____star, Leader of ____Clan, call upon my Warrior ancestors to look down on this Apprentice. He/She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him/her to you as a Warrior in his/her turn. ____paw, do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?
Apprentice says: I do.
Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your Warrior name. ___paw, from this moment you will be known as ________. StarClan honors your courage and your (*see below), and we welcome you as a full Warrior of ____Clan.

The Leader rests his or her muzzle on the Apprentice's head. The Apprentice then licks the Leader's shoulder. The rest of the Clan then greets the new warrior by calling him or her by their new name. The warrior will sit a silent vigil guarding the camp that night, except in highly unusual circumstances, such as Squirrelflight's, where another special task may be assigned.

Apprentice Naming Ceremony
____kit has reached his/her sixth moon and is ready to become an Apprentice. ________, you have been a (*pick a virtue) Warrior. I know you will pass these qualities on to your new Apprentice. ____kit, until you receive your Warrior name, you will be known as ____paw.

New Deputy Ceremony
I say these words before StarClan, that the spirits of our ancestors will hear and approve my choice. ________ will be the new Deputy of ____Clan.

Retirement Ceremony
________, you have served your Clan to the best of your ability. You say it is time for you to join the elders. Are you sure of this decision?
Warrior: I am sure.
Then, as Leader of ____Clan, I take away your title as Warrior and you are free to join the elders.

Name Change Ceremony
Spirits of StarClan, you know every cat by name. I ask you now to take away the name from the cat you see before you, for it no longer stands for what he/she is. By my authority as Clan Leader, and with the approval of our Warrior ancestors, I give this cat a new name. From this moment, he/she will be known as ________.

Death of an Apprentice
I ask my Warrior ancestors to look down upon this Apprentice. He/She has learned the Warrior Code and has given up his/her life in the service of his/her Clan. Let StarClan receive him/her as a Warrior. He/She will be known as ________.

MEDICINE CATS

Medicine Cats must follow a code different from the Warrior Code. They have certain restrictions that come with choosing to follow this path. They must learn all the herbs and techniques a Medicine Cat uses.

Medicine Cat duties and rules:
- May NOT take another cat as a Mate.
- May NOT have Kits.
- Must learn all the herbs and where to find them.
- Must learn healing techniques.
- All Medicine Cats must meet at the Moonstone on the night of a Half Moon to share tongues with StarClan.
- Must interpret prophecies for the Leader.
- Sleep in the Medicine Cat's Den.

WARRIORS

Apprentices will become Warriors once their Mentor feels they have learned everything well enough. The Leader will hold a ceremony in which the Apprentice will receive their Warrior Name. After that, Warriors are free to other responsibilities for the Clan.

Warrior duties and rules:
- Allowed to have an Apprentice.
- Allowed to lead patrols and hunting parties.
- Allowed to leave Camp. Permission from Deputy or Leader is recommended, but not required.
- Sleep in the Warriors Den.
